Hi there,
My name is Alfie and I'm from Dundee in Scotland. I'm looking for some help with my J reg ( I bought it in late 2006) K1100LT.
When I bought the bike the previous owner did not have an owners handbook. I have tried to get one through the local BMW garage but they can't help.
Is there anyone out there that can help me with a copy of the handbook?
I am hopeless on all the the technical/maintenance stuff but want to make sure that I look after my bike given that I plan to keep it forever.
Thanks

hi Alfie - welcome to K11. I was just thinking the other day we need to figure out a way to put the owner's manual up on the board here - but that's beyond my technological know how.
I can offer to buy one for you and send it over if that'll work for you. It would be the US version, though. Seems like you should be able to find a Euro version from a dealer somewhere in the UK. I don't imagine the two versions are very different. _________________ Jim

Owners manuals come up quite often on ebay. Log onto ebay.co.uk and set up a search for K1100 and set it to e-mail you of anything. Bet one comes up after a few days. _________________ 1980 CB900FA

Hey Alfie a fellow Scott! Although I'm a couple of hours away from you I once went to a good bike day at your local garage. They had a barbie and the staff there seemed like good guys. Its John Clark off of the main Perth road and I'm sure they can help you.
Let me know anytime you are coming north and we can meet up.
Happy hunting

Hi Freddie,
THis is the garage I have been dealing with, John Clark Tayside. They kept me waiting for months when I ordered a handbook only to tell me that they cant get one when I visited them to chase it up. Worse than that, I had my bike MOT'd there last year and it cost me well over A thousand pounds!!!
The whole thing was a shambles and the communication had been terrible.
I have had 2 recent major spinal operations and cant ride my bike just now anyway but the last time the bike was in there they broke a casing on the bike and told me they were ordering a new one and would be in touch when the part came in. The warning light was still on when I took the bike away but they said they would sort that when they got the part in that they broke.
I have waisted so much time with them and given my fragile state after the op I am just waiting on them getting in touch. Once I am out and about and fit I will chase them up. I am not holding my breath waiting on them contacting me in the meantime.
They even managed to lose my remote for the immobilisor they disconnected as they thought this might be the reason for the battery draining. Beleive me there is much more than this to moan about!!!!
Anyway, lets see what happens!
I wish I had joined this org when I bought the bike and its been great the help I've had already from the members.
I am on the mend just now but look forward to catching up when I'm fit or if your passing this way let me know and you can pop by.
Cheers

Hi Guys
Re Motorworks handbooks, you should check that they are genuine items, and not a reproduction.
I needed one to complete an R100 RS concours restoration, and the quality was quite poor.
They were honest about it being a repro. The paper was low grade, and the fold-out wiring diagram was split across many separate pages.
I have a trade account with Motorworks, and I think they are way ahead of the other UK suppliers. They would not mislead a customer, but best to ask the question. _________________ C1 200 (2001)

Hi Alfie
I hope you dont mind but I let the garage know that your sick and still have a problem with the bike. Alan at John Clark said he would look into it. If anyone is interested they are having an open day at the Dundee and Aberdeen garages starting this saturday so I thought I should let people know as this guy Alan seems a good sort.

I just found 2 K1100 Owner manuals (US version) I also found some of the factory stickers the dealer is supposed to put on the bike before delivery. Also the manual for the radio. If youi still need anyof these please let me know. All are in good shape. I will not say perfect shape buy definitly VERY good condition. Even found a set of the tools to remove the radio.
