When I was five years old my fater brought me home a Bronco minibike. he showed me how to ride it. The next day, I hopped on pegged the throttle and rode into the side of the house. I have worn a helmet everyday since then.

Except once, 1998 Laconia bike week. I rode a littlewithout it on, and hated every minute of it, plus I kept thinking about my father who had passed away 4 months before and how disappointed he would be. So I stopped and put it back on.

Every time.

Even on MTN and road bicycles I wear my Giro.

An impact of 5 mph on the wrong section of your head can lead to a permanent vegetative state or death, and the head being heavy and having a large mass is very likely to get struck.

Not biffed on my cycle yet, but can attest to 2 occasions where helmets saved my life on my road bike. (both times hit by cars-one time my fault)

Yes. It's the law over here anyway but I remember riding to Spain with a group of friends many years ago. Once we crossed the border we all stopped and took our helmets off (wasn't illegal in Spain at the time), an event we had been anticipating for a long time. After several hundred yards, all of us had stopped and put them back on again as we couldn't get to grips without wearing one.

I always wear a full-face Arai on the RS.

On the LT, I like to ride with a half helmet or, where legal, no helmet. But when touring on the LT, I always carry a full-face with me is case it's raining or I feel like wearing a full-face. I find that the full-face helmet on the LT is so comfortable that it will let me fall asleep on long days. The half helmet keeps me awake.

I'm one of those guys who stops at the Idaho border and takes his helmet off. Very Happy

I was working in LA in the early 90s when California passed their helmet law. A few days later there was an article in the LA Times titled Despondent Motorcyclist Kills Self Over Helmet Law. Rolling Eyes

Went down once, my own fault, BIG TIME. The whole left side where the visior is looked like someone took a giant wood rasp to it. Could have been my beautiful mug instead. Firm beliver in helmets.

Always! Two reasons: 0ne in an accident I was in the first thing that hit the ground was the back of my head(thank heavens I had a helmet on) and two, riding on the highway a truck kicked up a 4 pound chunk of asphalt that I had just enough time to see coming and turned my head so it hit me in the side of the face shield.

Almost all BMW riders wear a helmet; however, I have a friend who rides a "K" bike sans helmet.

Hell yeah.

Full face too because the dental repairs are worth the increased cost of the full face.

And if you ever ride without just remember the old sage who said "Do ya feel lucky punk? Well do ya?" Wink

I do too. I have a full face for winter riding for myself and (3) open face for summer and passengers.
If I show up at G.F. house without it (she's like 2 blocks away) boy do I hear about it.

Scott.
