I went for a little ride today. I only had two hours, so I stayed close to home and sought out a few small roads.
The other side.
It was a wonderfull, peaceful and beautiful ride.

I see you live in the Pacific North WET, not much sunshine, but you make up for that with the BEST damn coffee on God's green Earth. I would stop 4-5 times a day while traveling thur there and order a "trauma code" = 7 shot espresso, with chocolate, carmel and vanilla syrup latte.
It's just rattle can flat black and the bottom, middle center had "textured" flat black. It's tough but likely not as tough as Rhino Liner or LineX. I'll see if I can get a better pic and post it here today. _________________ 1993 K1100RS aka The Shop Whore

Yep You know it. I like doing that sort of thing and one day I hope to have a dirt bike. In the mean time the Shop Whore gets flogged a bit harder than your average K-Bike.

Ok here's the picks I promised. Of course it's after a dirty, wet ride.

Awesome ride report! I think I recognize this stretch of road
Is it the little spur that goes off Rt.231 from Etlan over to Syria? This looks like the delicious little curvy bit right as you come out of the trees down to Syria.
I used to go fishing right up there, up the Old Blue Ridge turnpike, years ago There was (is?) a great place called Graves Mt. Lodge not far off, fun place to stay for the night. _________________

| That looks like some nice riding terrain. Do you ride on gravel/dirt often with your bike? How does it perform, do you keep the speed slow? |

Yes and yes.
By keeping it slow, performance is not at issue.
Picking it up is. _________________ 1993 K1100RS aka The Shop Whore

I rode my K75RT up this ATV track in Alaska one day - I don't think it was happy with me.

This is a story expressed through motorcycles and written on the highways and byways across the entire width of America. But at it’s heart, it's really a story of deep friendships and the lengths to which those friends will give of themselves.
It all started when Steve bought a 2007 BMW GS Adventure from Sandia BMW in New Mexico and was to trade his 2006 BMW K1200R to the same dealer.
He needed to get from Culpeper, VA to Albuquerque to make the trade but it was going to be awhile before he could made that happen.
In steps several ADVriders and among them, one had the time off work and the blessing of his wonderful wife to make this happen. My friend G-dog works in the oil fields and said as soon as he finished his current job, he would ride Steve’s new bike from NM to VA instead of going home to his beautiful wife and three beloved children. A huge sacrifice for all involved. You see, his family lives in Oregon.
Pin the Tail on the Dog is where Gravity‘s Dog lets us keep track of his general thoughts and movements, not his forthcoming Ride Report.
http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=314517
I’ll link G-dogs Ride Report here when he writes it, so I’ll start when we got a call from G-dog saying he was in Roanoke. I suggest I’d be honored to ride out and escort him in. Steve doesn’t miss a beat and suggests the first Scenic Pull-off just past The Shenandoah Parkway on I-64. I rush to get ready but my K1100RS is partly disassembled from my tank bag repairs.
So Steve suggests I take the K1200R. As I’m putting on my helmet, he asks if I’ve seen the radar. I said, “No, it’s just rain, and I’ve been wet before” And I mount up.
By the time I was 20 miles down the road, I’m in the rain and deep in traffic. And riding through Charlottesville in heavy rain and rush hour traffic is an exercise in Dodge-Car. I felt like the weasel in the Whack-A-Weasel game.
I missed the first chance to turn around on I-64 due to the heavy rain and poor visibility, so rode a mile further, exited, turned around and rolled into the emergency lane next to the Scenic Overlook we were to meet at. I thought that would give G-dog the best chance to find the place for the same reasons I missed my first exit.
I got off, pulled out my camera and took this shot.
Then I turned around to shot the other direction and just as I did he came rolling out of the rain and fog.
We exchange hugs and he calls me an idiot for doing this, in the way best friends rib each other.
I said, “I wouldn’t have missed this for the world!”
We ride back together and I almost miss my exit off of I-64 and G-dog takes the GS off road to turn around and make the exit. Visibility sucked big time.
His hands after riding ALL DAY in the rain.
The man and the bike he rode in on, and Steve checking out his new baby.
Me and the wet Dog.
G-dog signing his work.
Friends rode in from all over to welcome him, beer and hugs all around.
The signing of the beer fridge.
G-dog, Jknowledge, and Smithy
Jknowledge and Pam.
My friend Smithy.
G-dog test fitting the bike he was to ride back to NM. Note his stylish foot wear, compliments of Steve.
Everything G-dog was wearing was soaking wet, so Steve loaned him some dry digs and we drove to the Mexican Restaurant for more drinks and laughs.
Jknowledge, Pam and my son Johnathan.
SWEET slippers!
Sippin’ cider through a straw.
Hugs goodbye from two guys that had never meet in meatspace before that night.
Oh hell, good friends and good Margaritas! Time for a group hug!
More later.... _________________ 1993 K1100RS aka The Shop Whore
