Every year I get a new motorcycle book from someone for Christmas. Past years, I have read:
10 Years on Two Wheels, by Helge Pederson
A Twist of the Wrist, by Keith Code
and countless motorcycle encylopedia types both BMW and general.
Anyway, this year I was excited about my new book: Everything You Need to Know/Motorcycle Touring, by Dr. Gregory W. Frazier. I just finished it, and I must say I am not all that impressed. The reading was not especially entertaining nor informative, IMHO. Has anyone else read it? Any other suggestions for a good motorcycle book? These long Cleveland winters stink. _________________ Dom |

Thanks Owrstrich!
I only read the first book, I ll have to find the second and give it a whirl. No wonder why I am so/so 50/50 kind of a rider, I never read the second book _________________ Dom |

Received "Top Dead Center" book by Kevin Cameron - it's a collection of some of his monthly columns from Cycle World magazine.
Very good reads - just enough tech (for me) but not enough to make your eyes glaze over. _________________ Dave Norris KOG 248

Two Wheels Through Terror is a riveting read. I saw the author speak last spring and got a signed copy. His name is Glen Heggstad and he has a website here:http://www.strikingviking.net/ _________________ 1997 K1100LT

"Long Way Round" by Ewan McGregor & Charley Boorman
That said, I have to admit I haven't read it but it looks good. I bought it last year, put it on a bookshelf and promptly forgot it existed. Didn't remember it until this thread came up. Shows you how good my, uh, whuzzit...? Ah, memory, is...

G'day Guys and Girls
If you are into watching DVD's then I suggest "Long Way Round" and "Long Way Down" by Ewan McGregor & Charley Boorman
They are inspiring to watch as they tackle some of the world's best rides.
Especially when they do the Road of Bones in Russia. Shows how rough things get.
I have both sets of DVD's and can recommend them to everyone (even those that don't ride).
Ah, summer here, great riding weather (except when it doesn't dump 12" of rain in one day).
Happy New year to all. _________________ Ride safe

Indeed, although I haven't seen Long Way Down yet.
I asked for the Long Way Round DVD set for X-mas last year. After my wife rolled her eyes , I didn't expect to receive it. Surprisingly, I did. More surprising, my wife really got into it. So much so that she watched the DVD's a second time and then bought and read the book! And then she monitored the boys' daily progress on-line for their Long Way Down trip through Africa. But I suspect that Ewan McGregor's general cuteness was part of the appeal...
My favorite riding books:
Ghost Rider by Neil Peart
and
Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance by Robert Pirsig
which is only a little bit about motorcyles, but a great story. _________________ tlp
