Yes its time.
I have been on my 1993 K1100RS since 1995 and only have 87,082 miles. Shameful I know. But my wife is more interested in riding with these days and my wrists can't take the pressure for many hours let alone a week's trip. So I looked around and found this.
So I'll still hang around, like Allen, but the ol'RS needs to find another home.
I will still work up the KOG T-shirts In January so keep an eye out.
Mike

The tinted windshield looks really cool with the off-white paint job. _________________ "Still can't find 6th gear" 94 K1100LT |

Yeah been riding BMWs for 25 years and haven't bought a new one yet. Its a 2006 with all of 8k miles on it when I got it. Pushing 10k now but hey I'm slow only been 4 weeks.
It is actually silver and the upgrades were the tinted windshield (shorter) and a Two Brothers can. I also have the OEM can. Saves 16 lbes though with the new one.
The GTs do have their problems. The throttle/reponse can have a problem in the airbox which BMW knows about and have a fix but ofcourse do not want to do unless your bike has that problem. Basically ignore it until after it goes past warranty. BMW isn't winning many friends with this attitude.
Well Like i said I did it to go on long rides with my wife. Doing the Colorado Canada ride next year, _________________ Mike Gullery

I live just a few miles from you. Grew up in MH, too.
I still ride and love my '96 k1100LT. If I ever replace it (ie if it ever becomes entirely unrepairable), the K1200GT is what I'd replace it with. It's essentially the son of my bike. It lost the stereo, but gained 52hp. |

Isn't the first time I have heard of BMW being less than forthcomming about fixing things they got wrong. Back in the 70's it took a class action suit to make them fix cracked heads on the M30 engine that were caused by the stupid thermal reactor. Usually they start by refusing to admit that there is a problem and then go on to blame the customer. As an old time BMW dealer told me, "THESE ARE NOT NICE PEOPLE".

G'day Mike
Nice bike. No shame to upgrading to something that does what you want better than what you got.
Me, I would prefer the K1200LT. More things to play with.
Enjoy. _________________ Ride safe

Yours looks just like mine, Mike. Nice move. My K1100LT had 94,000 miles on her when she went to Alabama. New owner loves her. He promised to send me a picture when he passes 100,000 on the odometer.
Welcome to the land of tickets. _________________ the Luz |
