There was quite a bit of gunk around the outer seal so maybe the corrosion has built up a lip that is preventing it from popping out?

Brilliant - I wouldn't send shims or anything damaging like that but think the empty response envelope is a great idea. Anything to help stem the flow of junk mail I get on a daily basis.

Those are great tires - I ran the PR2's on my R11RT. I'm trying the new Bridgestone's this time around and the handling is excellent - very neutral.
