Yes the owner has done this. Up to 5500rpm the bike runs perfectly which most probably would not because of an injector fault.

You did know that there are 2 fuses associated with the tail/brake lights and BMU unit. #1 and #2 are both related to BMU operation.

As for LEDs, the LEDs in my cluster kits are very low wattage and generate virtually no heat compared to a filament bulb. The warped faceplates I've seen are on the bikes when purchased and not caused ...
