Recently had the same problem. Found that Motobins in England had what I needed at the best price.

They have a water/oil pump rebuild kit as well as new pumps.

Unsure of doing the rebuild prope ...

Or a corroded shaft in the oil/water pump. ....which doesn't sound good. That sounds like a show-stopper. Unknown territory here for me. Are parts available? I do have a Clymer and tools.

The front left caliper is a bit sticky, not wanting to release its grip right away. Since there are no leaks from the calipers, can one open them up to clean and use the same seals?

How many miles.
I'd probably suggest you replace the brass slider bushings as well as the seals.
Otherwise if you just replace the seals, and not the worn bushings, you will just develop a new leak ...

I stand corrected. Strange, though to me, that by sending fluid back into the reservoir when the lever is pulled that it would lesson the hydraulic effect on the disc brakes. I dunno.

Just thinking, is that the fluid return? When you release the brakes fluid has to flow back to the reservoir somehow. I know when you pimp the brakes with the cover off, brake fluid squirts up.
